PREHISPANICAL REGGAE AND SOCIAL POETRY BAND LEONES NEGROS (mistö marö umbö) We are a reggae and social poetry band, since the year 2002. Our performance is being a tlamatini azteca or an african griot (both social figures that in their native cultures, spread to the community, information, knowledge and reflection, trhow the music, poetry and dance). We come from Tlachco, (El Pueblito, Querétaro, México), Leones Negros is integrated by the brothers Elton and Oliver García Zúñiga, singers and front mans, and also playing trumpet and sax, and “ocarinas”, “teponaztles” and “Chicahuastles” (aztec and mayans instruments). And the atletas campesinos backing band, with Armando Aguilar playing bass, Francisco Martínez, drums, Aldo Peñaloza, guitar, Juan Suárez, Keyboards, and César Vargas, percussion, Abraham Kissi, staff. Our lyrical and sound “Combo” embraces our roots of ANAHUAC (the Aztec name of America), our greats ancient cultures, knowledge and philosophy, also the influence of rasta’s philosphy and music, so we play prehispanic reggae. This embrace shows a powerfull artistic and social concept, guiding by councious lyrical, in dancehall, raggamufin, soul, “alabanzas”, rap and hiphop in spanish, english, nahuatl and chichimeca, meanwhile, prehispanic roots and dub atmosphere retorced our visual concept of “xochitl in cuicatl” (flower and songs), aztec and mayans ceremonials. We have three albums: ”Raíces de fuego y esperanza”, Vich won the statement award of APOYARTE 2005 in Querétaro, also “The sixth is coming” and “Historias en la cabeza de la creación” (histories in the ras safari) that incluyes 3 videos, and the Elton Garcia..s book named “to decolonize, to claim, and to disobey”
