DJ BEWARE

Der 27-jährige DJ Beware kommt ursprünglich aus Hong Kong und ist seit 1996 DJ. Er arbeitet genreübergreifend und mischt alles von Soul, Rock, Reggae über HipHop und Breakbeats bis hin zu Garage und Drum’n’Bass.

DJ Beware war dreimal hintereinander Sieger der Technics DMC-Competition in Hong Kong (2001-2003) und ist auch Teil der britischen Turntablist-Crew Truesicians, die den DMC-Contest für England 2003 für sich entscheiden konnten. Beware ist der Tour-DJ für Patrice und I-Wolf. Neben seiner eigenen Mix-Show auf FM4, The Playground, ist er neben DJ DSL Resident DJ der wöchentlichen FM4 Hip Hop Sendung Tribe Vibes.

Ab sofort ist überall Favela. Der Bass-Funk aus Brasilien schickt sich an, weltweit die Ränder der Großstädte zu erobern, unter anderem auch die der österreichischen Hauptstadt Wien. Dort hat DJ Beware seine Zelte aufgeschlagen. Doch eigentlich ist er Kosmopolit. Geboren in Hong Kong, aufgewachsen im UK, mischt er heute mit seinen preisgekrönten Turntable-Skills nicht nur die Radiowellen von FM4 durcheinander.

DJ Functionist

Functionist is the host of 2 weekly Mixshows on Radio FM 4, the Hip Hop show “Tribe Vibes”, every Thursday from 10 to 12pm and “Unlimited”, the Saturday Afternoon Allstyles Program. He teamed up with DMC Hong Kong Champ DJ Beware for both Radioshows, they constantly play in clubs + you can expect them doing productions together. At the momentFunctionist is also working on his solo record with guest vocalists from the US, Canada and UK.

Functionists´interest for music began in the mid 80s, in a small village in upper Austria. Inspired by a breakdance mixtape, this young kid connected his parents´ turntables to some speakers and impressed the local bmx and skateboard scene with his first mixes of early hip hop, soul, funk and pop.
A friend returning from his visit to New York City, brought back the latest tunes from rap music greats L.L. Cool J., A Tribe Called Quest, Coldcrush Brothers, and Public Enemy for the young Functionist.

14 years later, "The Functionist Version" of "Shut Em Down" was released on the Public Enemy Album "Revolverlution".

1994 to present, with numerous remixes and album appearances from the U.S. to Rumania, and his name in DJ guestbooks from Scotland to Haiti, Functionist continues to represent Hip Hop Music in Austria as the host for weekly radio show "Tribe Vibes" on FM4. Functionist has even infiltrated outside of the hip hop universe with his unique Sound Design for Station Logos, TV-Shows and Commercials in Europe and the United States.
